Yahoo Exec In Sexual Harassment Case

You Have Rights As A Worker. I Will Help Protect Them.

Being unfairly treated in your place of work is a difficult thing to cope with. A hostile work environment can make it difficult to focus on your job and can have a negative impact on your emotional health and general well-being. Sexual harassment is just one form of mistreatment that workers may experience, but it is not to be taken lightly. Its effects can last a lifetime and those responsible must be challenged.

In Silicon Valley, California, a former software engineer employed by Yahoo has filed a complaint against her supervisor, an executive at Yahoo. Yahoo acquired the executive’s previous company in 2013, but the software engineer had worked with the executive prior to the takeover. According to the complaint, the supervising executive had coerced the engineer into sexual acts, both physical and digital. The accused executive is said to have used threats of taking everything away from the software engineer’s otherwise bright future with the company.

When the software engineer began refusing the supervising executive’s alleged advances, the engineer claims she began to receive less important assignments and negative reviews of her performance. She further alleges that the company failed to investigate her complaint adequately, instead firing her from her position. A representative for Yahoo denies the validity of the claims and stated the company’s intention to clear the executive’s name.

Other workers in California can learn from this woman’s example. It is vital to stand up for your rights in the event of sexual harassment. Only by challenging the perpetrators is it possible to prevent them doing harm to anyone else. An experienced sexual harassment attorney Los Angeles can support you in building your case and may be able to assist you in securing a fair settlement in light of your mistreatment.
