California Employers Required To Provide Harassment Training

For workers in California, the week can be exhausting. You work long hours for several days a week just to earn enough money to support your family. This can be hard enough, but for some the working week is made even more exhausting to the point of being intolerable. This is because many of these employees experience sexual harassment every day when they go to work.

This can come in many forms, from derogatory language regarding their gender to receiving lower pay and fewer opportunities for advancement. Some may even be subjected to unwanted physical or verbal advances, lewd suggestions or even assault. To make things worse, they may feel unable to stand up to the people harassing them for fear of losing their job and being unable to support their households.

However, California legislation requires employers to provide at least two hours of training on sexual harassment. The aim of this initiative is to raise awareness of the problem, helping others to recognize it and know what to do if it occurs in their workplace. However, this has sadly not eliminated the problem and many employees are still left wondering where to turn.

You should never have to tolerate a hostile work environment or unfair treatment from either your colleagues or superiors. If this happens to you, you might want to take legal action. Not only can this help to bring those responsible to justice, but you may even be awarded remuneration for your unpleasant experiences. An attorney can advise you on your options and may be able to assist you with your case.
