It seems like idyllic San Diego is becoming more and more known for the sexual harassment proclivities of its public officials, than its legendary beaches or laid-back atmosphere. The former mayor, Bob Filner, famously departed office under a scandalous cloud of sexual harassment and impropriety. It appears, however, that the City of San Diego still has a few more scandals up its sleeve.
The latest one involves Assistant City Attorney Daniel Bamberg. According to the lawsuit, Mr. Bamberg sent inappropriate text messages to a subordinate, a Deputy City Attorney. Moreover, the plaintiff in that suit alleged that the inappropriate behavior continued for three years.
Furthermore, according to the suit, Mr. Bamberg also advised the plaintiff not to complain about former Mayor Filner’s behavior as well.
The lawsuit claims that she complained of the conduct, but nothing was done. Further, the suit states that the plaintiff wanted to avoid litigation but was compelled to file after she was passed up for a promotion for rejecting the sexual advances.
If you were the victim of sexual harassment, then you may want to speak to an attorney. A lawyer can go over the facts of your situation and sexual harassment law. Sexual harassment suits, while they are frequented in the news, are not slam-dunk cases. You need to ensure that you line up your arguments and facts before seeking compensation. A lawyer can contribute to ensuring that you maximize your chance for recovery. Don’t risk your chance at a fair and just recovery, you deserve to work in a safe environment.
